Everyone knows that gamification works. If you are in Instructional Design (ID) or an Instructional Design Manager, 10-to-1, you have been asked to create some form of gamification.
Here are a few easy ideas for a dice game that you can implement as early as today to help train your Sales Enablement team for next to nothing and with minimal prep.
Free (probably)
Chances are, you or someone on your team has some dice lying around or tucked away in that board game you swear you’d play again (but haven’t).
Grab a pair of dice and get started.
This one is easy breezy lemon squeezy.
- 1 die represents your product, feature, service, etc.
- 1 die represents your customer profiles.
How to play
- The learner (or sales rep) rolls the first die to identify which product, feature, service, etc., to pitch.
- Next, the learner (or sales rep) rolls the second die to identify the customer profile to whom the pitch for that product, feature, service, etc. will be made.
- Lastly, the learner (or sales rep) pitches that specific product, feature, or service to that specific customer profile.
Cheap (for sure)
Get an inexpensive set of multi-colored dice from Amazon. This 100-piece set from Amazon has 10 dice of 10 different colors which means for less than $10 you can support up to 10 trainers and/or learners.
As with the free option, start with one die for your product and another for your customer profile. This time, play around with colors to add a bit of fun and personality!
- White (or your company’s primary color) represents your product, feature, service, etc.
- White (or your company’s secondary color) represents your customer profiles.
Now add a fun level of complexity with specific colored dice.
If the product + profile is a bit simplistic for your more tenured employees, play off the “green good and red bad” cliche to add a few extra steps.
- Green or Gold
- Use green (for those dolla dolla bills) or gold (cha-ching!) for added complexity by including upsell or “plus one” practice to the role-play pitch.
- Red
- Add the red die (red = bad!) to represent the top six most common objections related to the product or service being pitched. This is an easy way to incorporate a level of complexity to the exercise by randomly adding a real-world objection to the sales enablement practice.
How to play
- The learner (or sales rep) rolls the first die to identify the product, feature, service, etc., to pitch.
- The learner (or sales rep) rolls the second die to identify the customer profile to whom the pitch will be made for that specific product, feature, service, etc.
- The learner (or sales rep) then pitches that product, feature, or service to that customer profile.
- Once the learner (or sales rep) has successfully presented the sales pitch, have them randomly pick one of the other colored dice to pick a product to upsell or an objection to overcome.
- If time allows, have them roll the remaining dice to address the final roleplay scenario (upsell or objection).
